Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, profile handle, and password (stored in hashed form). We never store your password in plain text.
Book Listings
When you list a book, we collect the information you provide: title, author, ISBN, description, condition photos, and pricing. We may also retrieve book metadata (cover images, publisher, page count) from third-party sources based on ISBN or image lookups.
Payment Information
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card numbers, bank account details, or other sensitive financial information on our servers. Please refer to Stripe's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your payment data.
Usage Data
We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This data helps us maintain the service, diagnose issues, and understand how the Platform is used.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and maintain the Platform.
- To process transactions between buyers and sellers.
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, purchase receipts, shipping labels).
- To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent fraud.
- To improve the Platform based on usage patterns.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
3. Information Sharing
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With other users: Your handle and book listings are visible to other users. Buyers and sellers in a transaction may see each other's shipping information as necessary to complete the sale.
- With Stripe: We share necessary information with Stripe to process payments and payouts.
- When required by law: We may disclose information if required by a court order, subpoena, or other legal process.
4. Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. This is a functional cookie required for the Platform to work. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and signed session cookies. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
